Romanticizing the mundane

Love sharing my 💭 thoughts on books 📚, food 🍜, and my darling cats 😺
Some stir fried achoy, a tomato egg stirfry, and a steak and rice bowl with gochujang butter mafe by my roommate and I for #dinner. It was delicious. #foodsky #chinesefood #asianfood

Picked up some #food via the #toogoodtogo app. I highly recommend it if you're not picky about what you eat. It's a program that's supposed to help with food waste. We got a dozen assorted donuts from Krispy for $6.84. Not a bad deal! My teeth will rot now though 😂

Ths #SanLuisObispo Airport had a #littlefreelibrary right after security. There were some great #books in there. This was the one I ended up with for the journey back home: Miss Morton and the English House Party Murder. It's like Bridgerton (minus the sex) but with murder #mystery. #booksky

An afternoon in San Luis Obispo, CA. Wandered through the mission and discovered that there once was a Chinatown district here. I didn't actually touch the gum in Gum Alley especially because we were having seafood at Lure Fish House right after. #slo #california #travel

A day at Pismo #Beach, CA. The tri-tip wrap from Hoagie's was so good and there was a lot of #food. I ended up eating the other half this morning. #california #travel #pismobeach

Picked up two #vintage cookbooks from Phoenix Books in San Luis Obispo, CA. The Betty Crocker one was stuffed with magazine and newspaper clippings and handwritten #recipes dated between 1978 and 2018. It was like opening a time capsule! #booksky #SLO #shoplocal #books #cooking

I couldn't carry multiple #books with me on my work trip, so this is what I have. Honestly, Broderie by Marjane Satrapi will take a while to read. This was an assigned #reading #book from my #French class in college. I never #read it, so now I am testing my French comprehension skill 14 years later

I knew I was working a trip to New Orleans. I forgot that it was king #cake season and that the city is home to the author of A Confederacy of Dunces which I am currently #reading. 😂 What an opportune time to get me a treat from Sucré. #NOLA #travel #booksky #mardigras #food #books #dessert

I meant to cut the 🍤 toast into ❤️ shapes but I forgot to bring the cutter. The air fried version is better than the pan fried one. I made rhe dynamite shrimp sauce to dip the toast in. It was so good. My 💕 said that it's the best thing I have ever made. #homemade #food #koreanfood #foodsky #cooking

I got spicy garlic shrimp at Blue Ocean in Waikiki and it was okay. That spicy ahi tuna roll from 7 Eleven though so freakin' good. #food #hawaii #lunch #honolulu

Aloha from #Hawaii! First time here and it's just for 24 hours. I go back to snow soon. Surprisingly I have been enjoying A Confederacy of Dunces. The main character is ridiculous, but I think he may be autistic. Did people know about autism in the 60s? #booksky #beachreads #books

Next up: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. This was recommended to me by a co-worker when we were in Eugene, OR at a local book shop. It's one of his favorite books #books #booksky

Animal Farm is still as awful to read as it was years ago. Awful in a good way. The pigs really angered me. The weaker and less intelligent animals were taken advantage of and manipulated. Snowball could have given the other animals the life they had been fighting for had Napoleon not chased him off

The LEGO pop-up line at Fifth & Broadway is insane. Parking is $20 after the first hour so... If the line doesn't move in 50 minutes, I am leaving 😅. If I wanted to spend $20 on a free floral LEGO stem, I would just buy the kit. #nashville

I picked up my book again after a few days break. I really got into crocheting. I am obsessed 😅. Am I at the grandma stage of my life now? #reading

Book 3 for the year and the month: Animal Farm by George Orwell. I am revisiting some middle school English class required reading. I remember being horrified reading this 20+ years ago. #booksky #books

For those who might be unaware or just getting a library card: libraries are for more than just books! Many have a Library of Things with a variety of tools & equipment you can check out. Bike pumps, sewing machines, yard games, even power drills, for hobbies & home needs. #booksky

A friend drove from Indiana to have dinner with me at Tortello in Wicker Park. Ragù is my favorite sauce 🤤. #foodsky

I had to throw The Sympathizer away. The smell of fish sauce would not go away. I like eating fish sauce, but I don't want my living room to smell like fish sauce forever.

Finished The Thursday Murder Club. I loved it. My jaw was hanging open towards the end 😲. I can't wait to see if I can find some used copies of the rest if the series at McKay's in Nashville. I have to go through the two books I already have on my TBR stack first. #booksky
