@jonathan-a-thon.bsky.social I think I heard you making this point on Friday's episode but the others didn't catch it. Was that the case?

My colleagues have uncovered it.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

so special ed programs are getting gutted because their internal documentation used the term "transition" when talking about helping disabled kids enter the working world. they're literally striking at that word wherever they see it.

“VOTING FOR THE MAYOR WHO PROMISED TO BLOW UP THE CITY DOESN’T MEAN I APPROVE OF THE MAYOR BLOWING UP THE CITY”

A masterclass from @mikedrucker.bsky.social
Voting for the Mayor Who Promised to Blow Up the City Doesn’t Mean I Approve of the Mayor Blowing Up the City
It’s so easy to label people these days. From the way folks have been talking, you’d think everyone falls into two buckets: those who voted against...

It’s pretty wild that this is doing the exact same thing the Twitter files did where the set up is “we are finding all these crimes! All this depravity!” and then when you actually look at it you’re kind of shocked that there wasn’t more crime or depravity and that 99.999% of it was just office shit
When I heard Musk say this on Tuesday, my assumption was that it was a programming issue. Because I can code and have written to databases and because I am familiar with other examples of default values being misinterpreted.
Yet somehow Musk isn't.

Dream Theater came out with a new album this week, first since Mike Portnoy rejoined the band, but I'm over here rocking out to this one off their very first. Myung's bass sounds so good!

I want to spell out the basic reason it’s so dangerous for Elon to have control of the U.S. payments system. It may seem like a technical matter, but the dynamics are simple. 1/x
Elon Musk’s Team Now Has Access to Treasury’s Payments System
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave Mr. Musk’s representatives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency a powerful tool to monitor and potentially limit government spending.

I cannot stress enough that the American people protested, donated, subscribed, and voted in record numbers in 2018 and 2020 and then those institutions that they propped up in opposition to Trump sought to accommodate him instead. And here we are.
I continue to think that we won’t see a 2017-style liberal media addiction/subscription surge. Anger at how the media covered this, no more sense that something could break and end his presidency… I just see a lot of people tuning out for a bit.

[email protected] I'm rewatching Alex testifying during the Texas Sandy Hook case and I gotta give Dan kudos. I can't believe we didn't hear him audibly chuckle from the gallery after nearly every run-on sentence Alex said.

That must have taken Herculean amounts of effort.

I just listened to 7.5 hours of "The Debate of the Century" and only remembered 6.5 hours in that Bed was, in fact, two different people.

@knowledgefight.bsky.social Dan called it that it was Gorr the God-Killer, but the fatal flaw of the joke was that *none of us* saw Thor 4.
