I've been remiss and not done an introductory post.

I am one half of the Motoring Podcast, a weekly motoring news show. We also have extra episodes where we go into more details.

I will shout about cars, car software/security. Like to point out falsehoods around it all, no matter who says them.

Plenty of stories to draw our ire and scorn this week. Equally, an enlightening item about others exploiting charger operators but also, how bad they are at meeting regulations.

Really fascinating and clever Dacia concept.

Points of Interest has a UK success story, to read about.

Can I ask where this info is, so I can read it?

The U.S. and Europe did not sell nearly 5 million EVs. Under 2 m in Europe and US sold nearly 1.3 million.

Love reading a post from an Environmental Professor and it’s just full of sh*t.

Either they don’t know what they’re talking about or they’re happy to lie or both.
crackedwindscreen.bsky.social
I’ve not updated as I heard about a few bugs.
crackedwindscreen.bsky.social
Those are total fleet numbers. Not sales number per year.

And no one sensible suggests sales aren’t increasing as of course they are. For the car industry they’re not increasing fast enough, that is the very real problem.

It’s like the phone is gaslighting me.

We’re in 2025 where we are told to use the mobile web but I hate it for so many reasons, adding “because my phone keyboard is garbage” to those reasons.

WTF has Apple done to their phone keyboard? It’s so bad, doesn’t type the letters you’re trying to, the autocorrect is appalling.

This company gets worse and worse.

Had to correct WTF three times!

I’d say they good on paper and *could* be good on the road but their operational domains (for starters) has not been capped or controlled.

EuroNCAP rules are changing. Allegedly there’s real world testing of systems coming.

I look forward to everyone getting downgraded.

It really depends on the hack.

If it’s sloppy software, or digital protocols, then absolutely.

If it’s due to a human via social engineering the LAST thing you do is go at them. Instead you help them, educate them, arm them for the future.

I could spend hours telling how many times systems have kicked in for no good reason.
Now having the secret second LKAS deep inside a car is a special one that the people involved need to be kicked hard in the shins for.

Most are awful on our public roads driven at normal speed and carefully.

Not my experience. I don’t think I’m a driving god, nor drive like an idiot (Rule 1, don’t deny the press car).

Just the other week, had one that applied the emergency brakes as a car came to a halt at a junction, 90 degrees to the road I was on. Ridiculous.

I echo Alan, but I’d say, ask them how to switch it off I case you need to but do try it.

As I always say in reviews, I try it until I can’t trust it then I switch it off.

Also, maybe it’s just me and maybe you get on with their tech. It’s important for you to try it.

It really seems like the core project of the whole tech industry right now is devaluing (and monetizing the devaluation of) everything that makes us human, including the experiences of love and grief

Waymo went as far as it could where it should've never been, the likely epitaph for their nearly 17 year quest/experiment; prob the ASU campus, Tempe.

Bad AI > HD maps

Waymo doesn't even have to report this to regulators, nor will 'tech journalists' ask them about it.

The last sentence is the real problem. Its why people think these things work and are nearly with us. Its how the companies can come and con government officials into allowing them on the roads.

Its sad and shameful.

Use Firefox on mobile and then they regularly hide the number of tabs if you haven’t visited them recently. Works for me!

Not at all! It’s a brilliant one that needs repeatedly sharing. More that see it the better!!!
