Mainlander living in Tasmania but get to travel 🌏 to help governments & communities prepare for 🦟🐛 & 🦠 outbreaks
Human anchor slowing down an English Pointer on walks & occasional runs
Also still trying to play grade/masters cricket so expect cricket talk
Ok, that was a massive storm (& having previously lived in Brisbane for 20 yrs, it was still big) - not the greatest idea to hold a cricket championship in Qld in summer; game abandoned just in case you wonder…

Khapra Beetle has been detected in an imported brand of nappy pants - Little One’s Ultra Dry Nappy Pants - Walker.

The detection was reported on 7 September after larvae were found in the nappy pants and referred to DAFF, who directed that remaining stock be removed and secured.

1st ever win for the Tasmania U18 indoor cricket team at a national championship! 🐯🐯🐯

TAS 144 (3 skins) def ACT 99 (1 skin)

In the 3rd year since reentering the nationals the team is improving game by game & we now have indoor cricket centres in Hobart & Launceston to support the pathway & teams

Nice to be in Roma (the Queensland one, not 🇮🇹) & not watch the Tasmanian Government collapse as a result of a multitude of financial blunders & mismanagement.

I’ll enjoy seeing the local Bottle Trees (Brachychiton australis) instead.

There’s something very cruel about living in the tropics and not being able to swim in the ocean

Quick trip to WA done… 1st part of a national roadshow ✅ helping the dairy sector to be better prepared for a biosecurity emergency via Liaison officers trained to be the connection with the government

Bonus of a spectacular 🌅 at Bunbury but feeling the pain of the red eye flight last night

We don’t normally get them in the yard… doggo was taking way too much interest to be allowed outside when they wandered up from the river.

I flew into Brisbane last Sunday just after Tropical Cyclone Alfred crossed the coast and met by the torrential rain and winds battering the place and a hotel with no power. 5 days later; this. Still a bit of water lying around and some mopping up happening but such a difference in a short time

Part of Botanic Gardens in the Brisbane CBD; nestled in a bend of the Brisbane River, many people don’t know this exists. When I worked in Brisbane in the 2000’s, this was a favourite spot for lunch - especially in summer and I still make it part of my walks after work when consulting up here

4 workshops - 3 online sessions plus 1 supersized face to face workshop interstate - in the past week means I’m spent but I’m loving the flexibility to be able to go watch my son captain his school team.

There’s a lot of stress in being a small consultancy but I wouldn’t change it for a second.

Nice to trot out in 3rds sans knee brace & not break anything
A fellow aging warrior didn’t fair so well which meant I got more game time w/ my son coming in as subfielder. Great to show our (mostly) young players the standard that the 1sts field at & reminding others what we wish we could still do

Another cracking day for cricket at the NTCA in Launceston

The NTCA was scene of the first 1st Grade game in Australia when Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) & Port Phillip District (Victoria) played in an inter-colonial match in 1841

The ground is also home to Launceston CC, established 1841

Even better that the cap presentation was done by Richard Bennett, a club legend and former State player who’s watched him come through from the juniors and always free with his advice.

Proud dad day yesterday with the youngster getting his ‘baggy’ for his first 1st Grade game… lots of work behind that to make his case with results in the 2’s and then getting some T20 1st Grade time before Christmas and putting more runs down to warrant a selection.
