The cool thing about the No Kings protests is that even Trump supporters can get it on it, because he defeated the second Clinton and the third Bush.

10/10 trolling
Democrats have spent years slamming shutdowns, but now they're pushing a reckless $1.5T spending spree, including healthcare for illegal aliens. Keeping the government shut down only hurts hardworking Americans.

Tell Congress to STOP the Democrat-led shutdown.

Explaining why fascism is bad is easy. If you can't out-argue a fascist, consider punching yourself first.

There's a famous-among-programmers essay about how getting used to a less sophisticated language means when you see a more powerful language, you can't even appreciate it. "Why would I need X?"

Anyway, Mamdani wanting to get rid of gifted classes reminds me of this.

Charlie Kirk's killer is supposedly very political, so I created a prediction market about what his political views are:

manifold.markets/CraigDemel/w...
What political positions did Charlie Kirk's shooter support?
This market (https://manifold.markets/Marnix/what-was-the-political-lean-of-the) has a very active and spirited discussion of whether Kirk's murderer was on the left or the right in general. But, sin...

Here is a good article about one of Mamdani's policies: reason.com/2025/06/25/z...
Zohran Mamdani's government-run grocery stores won't lower prices
Mamdani’s belief that government bureaucrats can run grocery stores more efficiently than private firms is remarkably arrogant.

There's a saying, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence," and Rebecca here bravely stands against it.
Thanks to my friend Harriet for pointing out that the women went to Christ's tomb and saw he was not there, the angels showed up to describe what happened, & the women then told the apostles, who dismissed them. A Biblical account of women not being believed.

Another reason you should, if at all possible for you, invest in owned copies of music, films, TV etc that are important to you. A lot of stuff is going to disappear from servers over the next little while.
Between this and the Disney "DEI" investigations, I don't think folks are ready for how fascist mainstream US entertainment is about to get

This is a good point. Borders are imaginary, so if you need health care, just go to the NHS and ask for some. Try it!
Borders are imaginary lines drawn across real places; wildlife, weather, toxins and greenhouse gases flow across them endlessly. I once rafted down the Rio Grande where it's an international border, and it's not a border, it's a river where things converge and cactus wrens dart from shore to shore.

Who cares? You can't eat "global power status".
Will be interesting to see how a state that shreds its own capacity to collect taxes can sustain global power status
