Just some dood.

I love video games.
Motion controls are still being used tho. In fact, they’re gaining popularity as an aiming method because they’re objectively more accurate than analog sticks.

They’re on the cusp of becoming an industry standard, since every major console and handheld PC manufacturer has it(everyone except xbox)

I believe in you! You can do it’ <3

The gyro aim in splatoon is essentially an air mouse

Thats actually a misconception. You don’t have to move a lot. Slight barely visible turns of the wrist/elbow will work. Its literally an air mouse.

What's wrong with gyro aim? It's more accurate than analog sticks

Despite their poor reputation, motion control are objectively more accurate than analog sticks for aiming. Bear mouse level, even.

The Switch controller has motion controls. They stick around(and are increasing in popularity) cause they were always better for aiming.

The waggle stuff got relegated to VR. Which is its own Lil niche medium now.

I'm traditional games, motion controls are gaining popularity as an aiming method as they're significantly more accurate than analog sticks

Motion controls are really good for aiming, too!

It's objectively better tho

What about when they improve games? Gyro, for example, is objectively better for aiming.

PS4 and 5 controllers also have it. Which indicates it's good enough that it's no longer a Nintendo only thing.

It's just a popular gif that gyro players use to show it's accuracy, but Switch 1 and 2 controllers van do it too.

they didnt tho. The switch has motion controls and are an incredibly important part of the Switch's appeal. For the same mechanic that improved games on Wii: aiming. Both Wii's pointer and gyro on the Switch massively improves aiming. To the point we're ppl will purchase Switch versions to have it.

Depends on the game. Motion controls definitely improved a bunch of games
December 31, 2025 at 3:23 PM
It varies from game to game. Some games you just toggle a few setting and it works perfectly. Some take extensive remapping.

And some just straight up don't function...

Unfortunately Steam input(the way people inject motion controls into games that don't have it) doesn't play well with E33. Which is why motion control aiming should be an industry standard.
December 30, 2025 at 6:51 PM
There are TONS of non shooters where aiming is still a core mechanic.

Expedition 33 has aiming and it would've been massively helped by motion control aiming.
December 30, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Motion controls were better for aiming tho. Both on the Wii and with modern motion control(gyro aim")
December 30, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Ah... That's unfortunate. They're legitimately mouse level accurate once you get used to them. But only if you actually get to use them comfortably >.>

Sorry about that.

Motion controls are generally more accurate than analog sticks. Did they mess them up in Prime 4?
December 29, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Don't use the built in gyro on the RE4 remake! It's awful! If yiu wanna play with gyro, you'll have to manually set it up with steam input
December 28, 2025 at 12:47 PM
The gyro aim in SFZ was fantastic. The game was ruined by the dual screen stuff.
December 28, 2025 at 12:44 PM
If you can get your hands on just a wiimote and nunchuk, you can connect it to the PC and emulate it with the original controls
December 27, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Ive used motion controls before. They’re significantly more accurate than sticks. Ever played splatoon?
