"Let’s Put The Future Behind Us" is one of the most culturally insensitive things I've read in a while. I don't think he missed a single USSR/Russians are evil trope in that one. He even made basic translation mistakes, which is the one thing you should get right when writing about foreign culture.

This was really a great read!!! "The 22 Murders of Madison May" was great as well. Fast paced thrillers that had nice little twists.

Sure. But is the system not responsible for creating the audience? Taste and deeper understanding needs room to develop and encouragement to grow. How is the audience supposed to do that when they are expected to be making $$ every conscious moment?

Just had a recent discussion about enshittification of movies/tv shows/books being the direct result of market forces. Also known as capitalism.

I feel like the author conflated some terms. "brain rot" being one thing and "meme speak" (not just internet speak but references understood by a group of people with shared experiences) being another. The examples are not the case of Ellochka the Cannibal brain rot. (IYKYK) :D
