They are feeding Kindle Unlimited books into an in-app AI that "answers questions" about the plot, characters, relationships, etc.

This was implemented with authors having no way to opt out. I'm no longer in KU, but I have 0 faith with my books on that platform.

Not all books on Amazon have DRM. Mine don't. It still didn't allow complete ownership of the ebook they bought which is why I started my direct buy store. Newest news from Amazon is they will start allowing people to download non-DRM books next year, but we'll see how that works.

Amazon for books is complex. I know authors exclusive to them who are doing very well & I wouldn't presume to tell them to dump their income. Also, ebook readers get locked in & can't port the ebooks out that they paid for.

Right. And I try to take my cues from other people. My terms for my family are personal to me. Another adoptee might flip it to "birth mother" and "mother" and I would respect their choice and speak accordingly when referring to their parents. The problem arises when an industry tries to force terms
