#IndieAuthors Given, well, everything, I'm going to donate all my book royalties for the remainder of 2025 to my local food bank. If you've got the means, and you're looking for that next great read (for you or the book lover in your life), check out my work. 👇
The TV show Castle is absolutely copaganda, but it also weirdly undercuts copaganda. Because half the time, the big break in the case, the "outside the box" stroke of genius, comes from the civilian consultant with no law enforcement training -- not the characters with the badges.

I do often feel like I don't really belong in the book community, as unknown and poor selling as I am. But there is the fringe benefit of often not knowing what's going on with the latest drama du jour.

Once again, Target is doing everything possible ✨️except✨️ reversing the one decision that led to the boycott in the first place.

The head is buried so far in the sand, it's tickling their kneecaps.

My latest is about assassins who are also lesbians. And former lovers turned enemies. But they might be lovers again?

The lead is on the run. For not killing who she promised to kill.

Oops.

And there's hockey in there somewhere.

It's fun. Funny. Bloody. And kinda hot?

On today's edition of "remember who owns all our newspapers and TV stations..."
“Lower prices would have bad consequences. For one I’d be less rich and for two the poors might start thinking they should get to eat fresh produce. I hate when the poors are happy.”

#LateNightWrite

I've been creative as long as I can remember, and being able to use the written word to express what can't otherwise be expressed has been a balm for my mental health, and sharing my words with others is more healing than I'd anticipated. I will be heard, dammit.
Alright folks! #LateNightWrite tonight is gonna be just this. Because things have been shit for a while and it's good to remind ourselves of what good has come of our creative endeavors. Be it things we learned, friendships forged, the joy of creating itself... what are you thankful for?

There is a massive difference between the kind of AI used for scientific and medical research, and the genAI slip machines we're all (rightly) speaking out against. The fact that a lot of us can't tell that difference puts actual advancement and progress at risk.
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense

One of the most frustrating things about MAGA is that... like, yes, they should be angry and worried. There's plenty to be angry and worried about! But they are always mad about the wrong stuff, asks the brainwashing is so deep, it's almost impossible to break through.

Don't mind me, just enjoying being in my own bed again. Mostly because I actually fit in this bed.

I love my grandmother, but I outgrew the bed I use in her house when I was, like, 13. 😅

Given my salary right now, my UBI would go entirely to paying down my debt. After that, I would build up my savings (in case that salary ever goes away).

Boring answer? Probably. But even this would make things easier for me.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

I've been to a lot of the states these MAGA folks keep telling us are "full," and frankly, I remember ✨️a lot✨️ of land that was the exact opposite of full.

Leading into this second "term," I remember a lot of talk about how prepared MAGA is this time; they learned from all the mistakes.

They've done a lot more damage this time, but the incompetence is baked in. It's who they are. The stupid is as strong as the evil.

It might just be our saving grace.

Our azalea bush that blooms in April gave us a late November bud, and I can't help but wonder if this is a sign things are going to get better.

I sometimes kinda wish I believed in that sort of thing.

What he said! 👇
If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!
A reminder that the median book deal for a debut author in the UK is £7000, paid over 12-18 months. (from 2022 Society of Authors report). Some of your favourite writers are struggling. societyofauthors.org/2022/12/06/a....
