Listening to a discussion about Jane Austen and remembering that it’s not new for women to find many men unappealing marriage prospects.
What’s changed is they now have the option not to bother.

Meanwhile you end up with salary compression, particularly at the lower end of the grad job market...even if the longer-term earning prospects are higher, it feels uncomfortable to people that they could earn broadly the same working in a supermarket as if they became a grad trainee
