I guess one potential ray of light: transphobes often present themselves as the voice of some silent majority fighting against a tiny radical element. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find groups more Establishment than WI & Guides, and they are, openly, against this pogrom. So there's that.

There's about a whole chapter on them in Year of the Rat about what a weird and damaged pair they are and why they stumbled on their grift. His parents basically sent him to prison instead of school.

Fuuuuu… just hit Chapter 9. Loads of eugenicist policies are discussed as being proposed by pals of the extreme right, almost every one of which has been picked up by Labour in general, specifically Mahmood, in the past year.
