I met Thom Tillis in the summer of 2005 when we both filed to run for the Huntersville Board of Commissioners. Thom, fresh off a term as a Cornelius Town Commissioner, was kind and gracious, treating me, an unknown candidate with no expectations of victory, as an equal.
