Just talked to an air traffic controller today and they are very stressed out. They said they keep being told that their time during the shutdown will not be paid, even though they are still working and considered essential workers!!! They don't know how they will pay their bills next month.

This is great, but organizations always say "tax deductible!!!!" all the time, but if you don't have a certain threshold above the IRS standard deduction, nothing is tax deductible. Not even medical expenses. I wish organizations would be more clear about that.

The base near where my husband is from and where he went to college, Plattsburgh NY, was closed under BRAC. I think Plattsburgh went from a population of about 30k to 10k after that. Decimated it.

I don't think this accurately reflects the number of people who actually kill themselves. Both my grandfather and my mom had cancer and decided they were ready to die so they stopped eating and drinking to kill themselves. Guess what their death certificates said they died of? Cancer!
