Damn. Stay safe, northwest Alaska. Yet another reason why Congress rescinding public radio funds was a terrible, short-sighted action that will endanger Alaskans’ lives. These stations and the disaster updates they broadcast are an essential lifeline.

It would be happening at the federal level if it was happening in fifty states. Just working on the my little corner of the world and hoping others will do the same.

I hadn't really thought about a specific goal but I feel like 250-300 responses would be a meaningful number of Alaskans to hear from by the end of the month.

Thanks to everyone taking an interest in this new party conversation. We already have 22 survey responses from Anchorage, Eagle River, Fairbanks, Gustavus, Juneau, Douglas, Kasilof, Kodiak, Palmer, Sitka, and Soldotna. Good spread!

Because 👏of 👏you👏

Your 600 comments. Your relentless push for transparency, fact-based findings, and accountability.

Alaska's kids were at risk of losing lunch programs, after school activities, family supports, and you stood up.

I couldn't be more thankful.

Early results show that most residents don’t want to implement a new seasonal sales tax system in Juneau next year, but are in favor of the two measures that aim to reduce the tax burden on individual residents. But that outcome could still change.
Preliminary results show Juneau voters in favor of affordability measures, against seasonal tax
The results shared Tuesday night could change. More updated preliminary results will be shared by the city in the coming weeks. Results won’t be certified by election officials until Oct. 21.

Ha! I guess that depends on who gets involved and what decisions they make. Right now we're leaning towards "Alaska Neighbors" which I'm pretty happy with. I think the marmot will certainly stick around as one of many visual markers and mascots. I like a small durable mammal.
