Damn. Stay safe, northwest Alaska. Yet another reason why Congress rescinding public radio funds was a terrible, short-sighted action that will endanger Alaskans’ lives. These stations and the disaster updates they broadcast are an essential lifeline.

Early results show that most residents don’t want to implement a new seasonal sales tax system in Juneau next year, but are in favor of the two measures that aim to reduce the tax burden on individual residents. But that outcome could still change.

Ha! I guess that depends on who gets involved and what decisions they make. Right now we're leaning towards "Alaska Neighbors" which I'm pretty happy with. I think the marmot will certainly stick around as one of many visual markers and mascots. I like a small durable mammal.
