Day 15 of #ArtAdventCalendar - closeup/detail of a mechanical diorama I made. It features a young aviator studying her maps, surrounded by clouds and an airplane which move when a wooden crank is turned (there's a video in my pinned post!)

Paper mache, wood, brass, felting wool, misc. materials. ☁️

You can also see a red airplane and a cloud on thin brass rods - these aspects of the diorama move up and down when a crank is turned. The diorama is made from paper mache so has an organic and handmade-looking surface, which is painted with acrylics using fairly muted colours.

For Day 14 of #ArtAdventCalendar, this bumblebee bear I sculpted last year! Made from paper mache, coated with silk clay for a smoother surface, painted with acrylic inks.

As a bonus, our soggy but brave lil mountain dog on the same climb (possibly focused on a sandwich, of which he did eventually manage to steal one half...)

Belated Day 12 of #ArtAdventCalendar - a photo from Loch a'Choire near the summit of Ben Vrackie last October. The climb was so quiet and almost meditative due to the thick fog.

Day 8 of #ArtAdventCalendar! Skipped a day as I was meeting old friends in Edinburgh this weekend, but resumed gremlin activities today. :') Made from paper mache, spun cotton, tiny glass eyes. Blankets dyed with bright acrylic inks.

For #ArtAdventCalendar Day 5, a friendly but very shy bog dweller.

Finished today and made from paper mache, wood, dyed hemp fibre and mulberry bark. 🐌

Two butterfly elephants I sculpted last February. Made from paper mache and painted with acrylics :)

Yayyy, it's #ArtAdventCalendar time again! I had a blast taking part last year and found so many cool artists to follow. ☃️ For Day 1, here is a little gremlin gardener made from paper mache and wire, painted with acrylics!

An automaton / mechanical diorama I've been working on for a while! A young aviator in her study room, dreaming of the next adventure. :)

Made from paper mache, wood & brass, painted with acrylics. Operated by turning a wooden crank. Still needs a few touchups but the mechanism is working smoothly!

Snow day! Snow day!!

WIP automaton - A pilot's study 🕯️

Probably the project I miss working on the most! Will hopefully be able to make some progress this weekend, as I've finally managed to clear enough space after moving house to set up a humble workshop again :)

We knew it was a fixer-upper so it'll be fine, even though there's a lot more to sort out than anticipated!

We are so fond of the location and this was the only place here in our price range, so in a weird way I'm glad we didn't know everything. I love waking up and seeing the mist on the hills.
