This has been an acclaimed series for almost a year with each stand alone issue sparking conversation. For me issue 6 was so moving. The reality is that far in, stores think they know the quantity to carry. Preordering helps us make accurate purchase orders (usually higher). Doesn’t that sound good?

Absolute Batman 16 is a point of growth for the character. Here he takes on a quest with Wonder Woman into an impossible environment & he rolls with it. Handles it. We learn that he is adaptable to situations. This Batman can go into space or fight ghosts or do whatever. He'll figure it out.

The new Iron Man series is immediately off to a great start. Madame Masque has been appearing a lot in random places, but here she is someone know knows Tony Stark and is a key figure in a major plot using his origin against him to create something dangerous. The Carnero art looks great too!

We lost Sal Buscema, one of the last of an era. When I was well into Marvel & knew what I liked in the late 80s, Spectacular Spiderman was my favorite of the three ongoing series at that time specifically because of his art. Somehow I never met him. I wrote a thing in the newsletter today though.

Back in the best days of Youtube this random commercial brought me a lot of joy. Apparently Sammy Stephens had a stroke this weekend, but he's doing alright. Give him a follow on Instagram under realsammystephens & send some well wishes into his DMs.

Your local comic shop is open Wednesday and would love to see you in! You want your new releases with you for the holiday & your LCS would love to do a Wednesday/Thursday business in one day to not miss a beat. But ahead of that let’s see what we can see in this stack!

I wasn't into the Thor Lord of Asgard era at all & the Magni character means nothing to me, until Mortal Thor 4! What a truly surprising issue. It sets up to do the usual, but does something new. There's no such thing as a bad character, In the right hands any concept can become interesting!

I give you 1984’s UFO Kidnapped. A Canadian sci-fi feature presented on Nickelodeon starring Alasdair Gillis as Alasdair (also Alasdair on You Can’t Do That on Television). This may be where my aversion for UFOs, Alien life, etc comes from. It’s only 40 minutes but watch at your own risk.

I watched this sci-fi “movie” on Nickelodeon back in 1984, but had no idea what it was called. I remembered the end but not the name. @kennethwreid.bsky.social immediately knew the name & today I thought I would watch. I was NOT ready for how creepy this was. Does anyone else remember UFO Kidnapped?

However, when it comes to comics, I interact with a lot of 20-somethings who heard a guy explain it online so they’re good. There’s nuance & interpretation with comics so for me it’s no substitute. They can see me physically deflate. Take the next step & experience for yourself! You’ll be glad!
Whenever I say this, people get Really Mad, but it's true. Same of any other art, too. You have to read the book, watch the film, see the painting, listen to the song, whatever.

I'm sorry, but watching a video about it on YouTube is not enough. You have not experience the art.
"you have not played the game unless you've played the game" is one of my more annoying but unshakable opinions

It took about three issues, but I have really warmed up to Absolute Flash. I like this Wally and the world around him. Based on what I saw in issue 9, I think this title is about to do something important that none of the other series will get into. This is the science series!

Dreadnok War in G.I. Joe is a lot of fun, but that was as bad of a hit as I've seen recently towards the end of the issue. No clue how that will play out. Could be Rock N' Roll all over again. Don't forget that this along with Transformers & Void Rivals makes up your complete Energon Universe diet!
