My main issue was that it tried to answer questions I didn't have. Xenomorphs are cool because space is enormous and who knows what could be out there. Space jockeys are cool because what if we found intelligent life that is long dead. I don't need to know why they exist or what their purpose is

Fair, but Prometheus tried to hide that it was secretly an Alien prequel, whereas AVP could not have been more clear about what it was about. I appreciate cinema that's not ashamed of what it is

"Who is our maker?" is a lame underlying concept for a movie. "Predators brought Xenomorphs to Antarctica to fight" is better
