Painted LOTS of bright red on Argel Tals armor.

Maybe too bright and saturated for Word Bearer colors, but that can be sorted too :)

Either way, very happy with the progress!

WIP picture of the heavily reposed Argel Tal I've been building and painting. The original model kit is produced and sold by Games Workshop / Forgeworld.

The paintjob is held close to lore-accurate depictions following a "Horus Heresy Legions" card art (seen in another image within this post, which features a lot of saturated reds, with slightly orange leaning highlights and horns being black towards the tips with some fleshy mid tones in the blend toward those black ranges. The Eye lenses of the helmet, as well as the daemonic eyes on pauldron and thigh, are mainly greenwith a blend into yellow toward the center. The spear arm is painted in brown and beige hues, with fine vein details, stippled magenta details to create a sort of sore flesh and black, sharp-looking claws. The serrated sun sigill on the chest as well as the first steel nmm bits of the armor ar painted as such with greys and white.

This is what a weeks worth of time-efficient NMM sketching looks like (well, the parts I painted since last weeks update post)

Only 2, in some spots 3 tones placed on all these armor and decor segments based on the light situation without further refinement.

A collage of WIP photographies of the character model "Apollon, God of Sun", which is part of the chariot piece sold by Kimera Models under the same name.

So far on this work-in-progress state, it's painted with desaturated dark red skin, shiny light grey metal armor with blue and purple color influences within the NMM and a green orb at the center of the open stomach cavity, which is painted with different spiral-shapes. The orb is painted to appear as emitting light in the same colors, primarily hitting the inner walls of said cavity as well as the openings of the armors chest plate. Additionally, the figure is wielding a flaming sword with bright yellow core color, blended into pink and purple before reaching the edges of the flame, which are green and blue. Some small spikey details as well as the decorative structures attached to Apollons back are sketched to appear as a brass nmm.

I've done my best to paint the sculpted arm I did in a way that lets it blend in with the rest of the figure. Might tweak it but it's on a good way I think.

Calling the Lord of Poxes cautionously finished!

A difficult, very busy, model for me, but after initial struggles I think I did an okay job.

#WarhammerCommunity #nerdlings #horusheresy
Lord of Poxes frontal view, the tubes and leather have a light glossy effect! Lord of Poxes back view, I think the sword is the best part of the model and I tried my best at some okayish highlighting it. Lord of Poxes, side profile - very odd due to how unsteady of a shape language he has!

A miniature car isn't found on the streets, a miniature human can't drink or drive, a miniature bust is a small type of bust.

Why are we walling ourselves off from other forms of art through terminology?

Why not use "tabletop figures" or "gaming figures" and use "miniatures" as collective term?
cryocheese.bsky.social
Yeah, I'm on the other end of this topic.

I get that and how the term miniature is often used almost synonymously for tabletop figures, but it'll always irk me to some extent.

The word miniature has so much versatility, that it feels off to insist on only using it for that specific type of figure.
