Lefty 20something with a short temper. Little tolerance for fascists, even less for liberals.

I'm also a weather nerd so whenever a major weather event is occurring in the UK, I'll probably post about it.

I have compiled a list of ACCURATE and VETTED UK weather records on my Wikipedia userpage which I will be gradually updating over time.

Give it a read if you'd like to see the true weather records of the UK and not the unvetted nonsense records the Met Office lists

The BBC is reporting that today the UK government will announce that restrictions on new oil and gas licenses will be relaxed.

Specifically, exploration that extends existing fields ("tie-backs") will be allowed.

Some notably high temperatures today.

Just one day later and this would've easily been a new daily record.

Unfortunately 2022 got an absolutely stupid reading on the 13th so no chance of a record today.

Tomorrow not as mild and the cold is heading in soon, so probably no other chances this month.

This video is The Death of Jonathan Pie.

He is no longer relevant in leftist discourse.

Enjoy your stupid prize of having a legacy as a both-sidesing centrist Tom. Your equation of someone who "hated MLK" with leftists who think it's not okay to use slurs is pathetic.

I hope it was worth it.

By both-sidesing by equating leftists thinking it's not okay to use slurs and a man who thought a 10 year old should carry a rape baby, you condemn yourself to a legacy of being a centrist liberal. Enjoy your stupid prize Tom.

Whatever you think of Angela Rayner, can we all agree that she isn't working class?

She may have working class origins but as of the present day she is not a working class person.

Do not feed into an encourage the right wing's fantasy of class being a birth-dictated ethnicity. It isn't.

UK 2025 SUMMER: THE HOTTEST IN HISTORY

With an average temperature of 16.1C and an anomaly of +1.51C above the 1991/2020 norm, Summer 2025 in UK was the hottest in climatic history.
Very dry conditions persisted specially in England.

The UK has just had its warmest summer on record, according to the Met Office.

The UK's top five warmest summers have now all occurred since 2000.

What about the infamous long, hot and sunny summer of 1976? That's been relegated into sixth place.

Blog coming soon...

So, it's the last day of summer, and the CET record is ridiculously close.

Current daily maxes at Pershore College, Rothamsted and Stonyhurst suggest the 1976 record is defeated.

We will see what happens. If 1976 is defeated in the CET, this will be a truly historic moment.

In terms of what's actually likely, I'd be surprised if we didn't record 32°C again this year and I imagine a fairly late 33°C is plausible if we take one of the hotter options on offer in the midterms at the moment.

As said, 34°C is possible again but probably veering into less likely now.
With today more or less out of the way now, that's probably it in terms of extreme temps this year.

>34°C will require very notable synoptics and high uppers from this point onward, but could conceivably happen again.

>35.8°C is probably fantasy though and that will likely stick as the annual max.
Judging from the current temps, likely an isolated 33°C at Bramham today.

Quite a bit short of what was on offer but expected in all honesty. Such a borderline setup is bound to be unstable.

Quite possible that models are largely overdoing maxes atm because of the drought.

Between these and now what are almost certainly daily records and stones' throws away from the all-time records this August, whatever happens on the national level, this summer will be one for the history books in Scotland.
On the topic of Scottish heat, this year has already seen all-time records at several Scottish stations.

July 12th:

Aviemore: 32.2°C

Achnagart: 31.8°C

Kinlochewe: 31.3°C

Resallach: 30.2°C

Altnaharra: 29.9°C

Loch Glascarnoch: 29.0°C

13th:

Harris South Uist: 26.4°C

Bealach Na Ba: 25.1°C

In what is I'm fairly sure something completely unpredicted, Charterhall in the Scottish Borders has reached 30.8°C!

Reminder that Charterhall currently holds the all-time Scottish record of 34.9°C, set in July 2022.

The last couple of days have seen some very notable temperatures in Scotland.

31.1°C at Watnall now.

Given the slow change from midday, we probably won't see much more than the isolated 33°C later.

The Internet unfortunately hosts millions and millions of reprehensible opportunists who will take advantage of whatever humanitarian crisis is occurring to scam people out of their cash. It's extremely easy to deceive people on the Internet.

Please be careful out there.
This will be a multi-post message.

So I've been noticing that every now and then, I will randomly be pinged with an appeal from someone claiming to be representing a Gazan family, asking for a donation.

I genuinely hate to accuse anyone, but I've come to believe just about nothing on the internet.

If you have the money and want to donate to the Palestinian cause (I don't and I wish I could offer some semblance of help), please verify the identity of whoever you are donating to before handing over money.

I again hate to accuse anyone, but I would not trust anyone who randomly mentions you.

Also forgot to mention because I'm a retard:

Yesterday ended with 33.4°C at Northolt (London), Benson (Oxon) and Ross-on-Wye (Herefords.)!

That's the first time I've seen such a high max taken by three separate stations, especially with that kind of spread.

Not keeping up with the hourly temps today as much as I feel like shit.

30.9°C at Watnall, Nottinghamshire (not actually within Nottingham, no idea why it has that prefix), as of 1pm.

Anything more than around 34.2°C by 5pm this afternoon is a pipe dream. Some models were clearly overzealous.

Liberals like this are the fascists' greatest cheerleaders because fascists can do any fucking thing they want (such as OVERTURNING GAY MARRIAGE) and these people are satisfied, even pre-emptively, to simply blame the left and let us all die. And of course they disabled quotes. Absolute pussy shit.
August 12, 2025 at 4:15 PM
33.4°C at Ross-"the boss"-on-Wye!

Quite plausible that it could get an isolated late 34°C, assuming Northolt or another station hasn't earlier already.

>33°C likely recorded at a multitude of sites today in the second round.
August 12, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Second wind? Temps up to 33°C again!

After a brief cooldown, temperatures have widely risen again.

This time it's more widespread, and I think 850s are actually rising over the day, so it's possible we get a late max somewhere that surpasses whatever peak Northolt previously reached.
August 12, 2025 at 3:32 PM
After tomorrow, whatever happens, we can probably call it a day this year in terms of extreme temperatures. From mid-August, any temperatures above 34°C will require historic, unlikely setups.

Unlikely isn't impossible, but if we don't reach historic temps tomorrow, I'm not expecting to this year.
If tomorrow were to surpass 36.7°C, it would defeat the pre-climate change record from Aug 9th 1911, which stood undefeated until August 2003.

This would make it at least the sixth-hottest day on record.

The fifth-hottest day is 37.8°C on Jul 31st 2020, and surpassing that is extremely unlikely.
Looks like in a very unusual setup, there's some interest for 35-36°C in the Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire area tomorrow.

To be historically hot and earn a spot on the top 10 hottest days list, tomorrow must reach at least 36.4°C, which would tie Aug 6th 2003 and Aug 7th 2020 for #10
