I'm also a weather nerd so whenever a major weather event is occurring in the UK, I'll probably post about it.
Give it a read if you'd like to see the true weather records of the UK and not the unvetted nonsense records the Met Office lists

Just one day later and this would've easily been a new daily record.
Unfortunately 2022 got an absolutely stupid reading on the 13th so no chance of a record today.
Tomorrow not as mild and the cold is heading in soon, so probably no other chances this month.

He is no longer relevant in leftist discourse.
Enjoy your stupid prize of having a legacy as a both-sidesing centrist Tom. Your equation of someone who "hated MLK" with leftists who think it's not okay to use slurs is pathetic.
I hope it was worth it.

By both-sidesing by equating leftists thinking it's not okay to use slurs and a man who thought a 10 year old should carry a rape baby, you condemn yourself to a legacy of being a centrist liberal. Enjoy your stupid prize Tom.

She may have working class origins but as of the present day she is not a working class person.
Do not feed into an encourage the right wing's fantasy of class being a birth-dictated ethnicity. It isn't.

With an average temperature of 16.1C and an anomaly of +1.51C above the 1991/2020 norm, Summer 2025 in UK was the hottest in climatic history.
Very dry conditions persisted specially in England.

The UK's top five warmest summers have now all occurred since 2000.
What about the infamous long, hot and sunny summer of 1976? That's been relegated into sixth place.

Current daily maxes at Pershore College, Rothamsted and Stonyhurst suggest the 1976 record is defeated.
We will see what happens. If 1976 is defeated in the CET, this will be a truly historic moment.

As said, 34°C is possible again but probably veering into less likely now.
>34°C will require very notable synoptics and high uppers from this point onward, but could conceivably happen again.
>35.8°C is probably fantasy though and that will likely stick as the annual max.
Quite a bit short of what was on offer but expected in all honesty. Such a borderline setup is bound to be unstable.
Quite possible that models are largely overdoing maxes atm because of the drought.

Reminder that Charterhall currently holds the all-time Scottish record of 34.9°C, set in July 2022.
The last couple of days have seen some very notable temperatures in Scotland.

Given the slow change from midday, we probably won't see much more than the isolated 33°C later.

Please be careful out there.
So I've been noticing that every now and then, I will randomly be pinged with an appeal from someone claiming to be representing a Gazan family, asking for a donation.
I genuinely hate to accuse anyone, but I've come to believe just about nothing on the internet.

I again hate to accuse anyone, but I would not trust anyone who randomly mentions you.

Yesterday ended with 33.4°C at Northolt (London), Benson (Oxon) and Ross-on-Wye (Herefords.)!
That's the first time I've seen such a high max taken by three separate stations, especially with that kind of spread.

30.9°C at Watnall, Nottinghamshire (not actually within Nottingham, no idea why it has that prefix), as of 1pm.
Anything more than around 34.2°C by 5pm this afternoon is a pipe dream. Some models were clearly overzealous.

Quite plausible that it could get an isolated late 34°C, assuming Northolt or another station hasn't earlier already.
>33°C likely recorded at a multitude of sites today in the second round.

After a brief cooldown, temperatures have widely risen again.
This time it's more widespread, and I think 850s are actually rising over the day, so it's possible we get a late max somewhere that surpasses whatever peak Northolt previously reached.

Unlikely isn't impossible, but if we don't reach historic temps tomorrow, I'm not expecting to this year.
This would make it at least the sixth-hottest day on record.
The fifth-hottest day is 37.8°C on Jul 31st 2020, and surpassing that is extremely unlikely.
To be historically hot and earn a spot on the top 10 hottest days list, tomorrow must reach at least 36.4°C, which would tie Aug 6th 2003 and Aug 7th 2020 for #10
