On the Greek Island of Syros, by the water is a fountain featuring a Siren and a greek naval soldier. The siren is Panagia Seirēn which approximately means "Saint Siren" or "Virgin Mary the Sirens"), patroness of fishermen, navy men, & marine life. The sculpture is a tribute to those lost at sea.

Where better to have a siren statue than on a Greek Island?

The sculpture was created by sculptor Giorgos Xenoulis of Athens, who also created a mermaid statue fountain on the island of Poros. It is based on a local legend, which has it that a soldier washed onto shore from a crashed naval ship during the Greco-Turkish War. It is said that she nursed him back to health & they fell in love, but he was stolen by Demeter & she had to save him once more. No one knows what happened to them after, but some say they both died rather than be separated while others say she rescued him & they disappeared to save them from Demeter's wrath. Some even believe he was accepted as a siren himself & now lives with her in Olympus.

At the bottom is a picture of the statue which is a rectangular rock fountain with a big rock that has the mermaid sitting on it holding the man in her lap.

The other day I [M20] heard the banshee, meaning someone in my family will die, and obviously it’s going to be my aunt. She’s pretty sickly and I can’t imagine any other option. But when I told my family, they called me a disgrace.

Naturally I tracked down the banshee and demanded answers, but she was totally useless and couldn’t tell me shit, so I stole her comb. Sweet revenge. But I didn’t anticipate that she’d try to get it back… and when I tried to get her out of my bedroom (hello, personal space???) I accidentally touched her and she had this weird seizure.

Now this creepy, undead (but lowkey hot) chick is insisting that “my touch brings her memories back” and “she craves more”. I can’t lie, I’m tempted (just because I want to find out who’ll actually die and prove my family wrong… no other reason). If my dickhead cousin finds out about this I’m totally screwed. AITA?
