THE OFFICE X GOOD OMENS

A satire of both business and the supernatural, Virgil Mora, Hell's Consultant, must restore Heaven's faith in Hell by saving a vampire-run Ohio gas station in just three months to save his job and Lucifer, the angel he's fallen for.

#A #F #PosterPitW #PosterPit #LGBT
At the top is the text “Virgil Mora burns in Hell. It’s a pretty good job.”

On a background of red and orange flame, a black and white silhouette with of a man with a suit and tie sitting at a shiny marble table that covers the entire lower half of the poster. A white silhouette of an angel with wings spread is standing behind them.

In front of them is the title, glowing yellow, “Hell Is Work.”

In the reflection on the table is the title reversed, the angel is in yellow not white and has a dripping halo. The businessman is reflected in red and has horns.

At the bottom is the words “A novel by Zed Prospero”

I've been told Contemporary Fantasy is the best descriptor.

Characters from religions factor, but it's by no means religious.

And it's satirical, but people seem to think that means "comedy" and I won't have serious themes then.

Genres are weird.

Well, my version didn’t create evil. He made the opposite of certain forces.

People made hate and forged evil out of his gifts.

This is why my Lords of Sin are actually all kind of contradictory. They weren’t intended to be evil.

Lucifer’s key line “What is freedom if obedience is all you know?”

They annoy a porter (due to noise complaints) so much they get moved to a suite.

It’s… maybe more because of the wings than the spice, though. 😆

What is your horror movie role this Halloween? 🎃 👻🔪

I mean… yeah, I guess. I get to be the undead one, though.

Going with “Prison” for today, as no “Dungeon”

Oh, yes, very much. They deliberately stay pretty near the ocean throughout most of that book.

Lucifer is a little distracted by thoughts of Virgil, especially on the cruise, but he greatly enjoys the sea.

Lucifer never got to see the oceans before ending up in Home Office. Virgil carries around (renewing them every so often) vouchers for an around the world cruise.

At the beginning of the second book, the first chapter or so is them on the cruise.

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Your characters are getting a well deserved vacation!

Where are they going? (It can be this world or theirs, your choice) Is it somewhere relaxing? Historical? Pure fun?

Why did they choose that destination?

Virgil, unofficially, Lord of Pride, is different. He is consumed by guilt for "allowing himself" to be tricked and people getting hurt.

This pride is what makes him the hero. If he doesn't act, then it was his fault. He's accountable. He thinks he's failing but Virgil is blind to his qualities.
zprospero.bsky.social
Lord Satan, Lord of Violence, is called by many the "Lord of Murder" a name she despises. Like Asmodeus, she has been twisted into a way to hurt others.

In my mind, this character is a trans woman. She is desperately trying to own and have control over who she is. She mirrors Virgil in this.
zprospero.bsky.social
Belphegor, Lord of Wrath, is a big damn goat the size of a rhino. He, like all goats, is surly but cares deeply and get things fucking done.

Anger can be unhealthy, but it's just energy and the same spite that makes you break someone's nose can help you create a spiteful masterpiece.
zprospero.bsky.social
Mammon, Lord of Greed, despises the concept of debt, a despicable form of slavery man invented.

Money can solve problems. A lot of money can solve *most* problems. Money is not evil.

It's that those with a lot of money, rarely solve problems for *other people.*
zprospero.bsky.social
Leviathan, Serpent of Fraud, has never told a lie. Adam and Eve blamed mute snake in Eden. There is nothing humans believe in more than lies, so he became the most powerful demon of all.

His minions document the truth. Lies have no meaning without Truth, and Truth has no purpose without lies.
zprospero.bsky.social
Asmodeus, Lord of Lust, defies the world's expectation of them very hard. Lust is not evil. "I'm love's fucking cousin, dammit!" When called "King of Rape" they weep, because they are a scapegoat.

Azzi is scrupulous about consent, and is prepared to dismember someone they fear is a predator.
zprospero.bsky.social
Beelzebub, Lord of Gluttony, is a great boss who knows that moderation is fine, but you need to stop and fucking enjoy life sometimes. To revel in it.

Some day you can't get through without eating a whole pizza yourself. Sometimes it's worth getting drunk on the world and sometimes, to savor it.
zprospero.bsky.social
Paimon, Lord of Heresy, is a very kind demon, a good boss, who is traditional and orderly. He defies the idea of contrariness and reckless chaos. He finds purpose in order. If it is a sin to question something then that thing does not deserve worship.
zprospero.bsky.social
Almost all the characters are fighting against the influence of a belief. Especially my "Lords of Sin."

The whole point is that they, as anthropomorphic personifications, are blamed by humanity as 'sin,' but none of them are evil.

Evil is not complex. Evil is treating people like things.
zprospero.bsky.social
Bad things do happen. The "Monkey's Paw Effect" is due to the fact that what you believe influences what the magic does. Evil people tend to be destroyed because they *believe* they should be.

And good people are too afraid of hurting others to willingly alter reality like that.
zprospero.bsky.social
This is why Lucifer created the soul contracts. A person's soul is their creative spark and, like matter, it can never be created or destroyed.

"Selling your soul" is meaningless. You lease your creativity. You become a muse for a race with no creativity (demons), just power.
zprospero.bsky.social
The kernel around which my entire setting is built, the keystone as it were, is that belief is an act of creation. Yes, there is a 'creator' but they dream the world into existence.

But to have choice, that being and it's agents cannot interfere. So, their ability to create must be taken.
