YES! Please bring back personal websites I'd LOVE to read all your writing there.
Can you all stop using Substack already? If you were mad about Bari Weiss becoming editor-in-chief of CBS News, why are you willing to hand over actual substantial support — your time, money, and energy — to the platform that literally partnered with her in December? www.theverge.com/2024/12/17/2...

It's a myth that good ideas beat out bad ones in a capitalist market.

In reality the sunk-cost fallacy means tons of bad ideas survive due to the pouring of more money into originally bad investments.

That's how we get AI everywhere.

Naming blogs is a lost art form.

You talk about what you're reading at The Blorbo Review? Sign me up.

You review corn at Corn Corner? Hell yeah.

Star Wars analysis at The High Ground? You know it.

I'm going to soft launch buroak.club and stop trying to put coats of paint on it or it will take forever to be "ready". BurOak Club is a #webring for south-east #Michigan. Contribute your personal site. Hoping for an official launch later in the year. Re-wild the internet. #indieweb

Since I quit most social media, I've been wanting to create a website from scratch, but I never got to finish it.

I recently stumbled upon the #smallweb or #indieweb movement, and it felt like finding my people!

need to kill the recurring thought of "no I can't replay/reread that, I have other stuff to check out"

no. I am a poor little peasant living just after the advent of the printing press. I have five books at most and I will reread them so much they will know the death of the author was caused by me

Reminder: A lot of great books published this year during absolutely bonkers news & world event times. That squashes people talking about them. Keep buying books please, keep borrowing them from libraries, and for the love of all that's good, talk about them. Post about them. 📚

You shouldn’t feel guilty about removing feeds from your RSS readers.

If you sent me one chapter a day of a book to my RSS reader, I'm sure I'd read it all.

I'll be putting this to the test with Lettrss, a project I built to syndicate public domain books via RSS.

Since Wicked is coming out soon, I'm starting with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

In this blog post I write a response to a surprising analogy I read in an essay by an American professor of philosophy.

He compares women to AI to claim artists have no legitimate complaint if an AI trains on their work.
