If TikTok has taught me anything it's that most people are shit at telling stories. Get to the point! I don't need to know your entire 7-11 purchase when the story is about your narcissist mother-in-law who phoned your entire family and told them your wedding was cancelled when it wasn't!

I'm rounding out my rewatch of the Wire and it's hard for me to find much fault in it. I know some people don't like season 2 as much or the final season, but big picture, it all works together wonderfully. My one big criticism is not enough Amy Ryan. Every second she's in the Wire she elevates.

Few things in the age of the internet are as disappointing is discovering a youtube channel that makes great analytical content on media you love and then looking for something similar for another piece of media you obsess over only to discover all the content that is out there is total crap.

As a cinematographer it's my job to make sure the movie looks right. And part of that is working with props to ensure the hand props look good not just on camera but for the film. I have to have an eye on that stuff as much as the director and art director. And I love it. I love my props people.

I watched Communion the other night and my disappointment has left me itching for a good abduction movie. Close Encounters is the best but looking for spooky. I guess I'll be rewatching Fire in the Sky. I think I've seen most of the other major and even minor ones.

I don't care how overhyped and cliche this sounds, but rewatching the Wire is like reading the great American novel. It's the height of the form.

I know a lot of people don't like how different Season 2 of the Wire was, but I think it's brilliant. And also, Amy Ryan.

Hey, if you only recently started following me and don't know much about me, I'm a cinematographer living in Europe. I shoot indie movies and mostly talk about movie related stuff. I also collect movie posters.

I've been catching random clips of the Wire on TikTok recently. So I dug out my dvds and started season 1 last night. What an incredibly special show.

I collect movie posters. Moving to Europe has been a disaster for my collecting self control because of the various size, and artwork from the many different countries And pricing. Movie poster pricing here is insanely cheap compared to America. I get French Grande sizes often for $5 or less.

I think I either was born in the right place and wrong time (New Jersey, 80s, should been born in the late 60s) or just the wrong place and the right time. (Possibly should've been born in New Zealand). I don't know. I guess there's not much I can do about it.

I checked in on the bird app over the weekend because I received a message from someone who seems to only contact me there. What a cesspit. So disappointing that an app with that much reach and power for positive has been overrun by bile, hatred, lies and stupidity.

In the depths of renovating my apartment and all I can think about is how nice it will be to one day be able to watch my favorite movies from. The comfort of my own sofa.

I'm fascinsted by generational seasonal film and TV content. There are certain things that transcend generations like It's Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown or Charlie Brown Christmas. But I've never seen Halloweentown. I was just too old when it came out, but maybe I'll enjoy it?

Rewatching the X-Files and I'm struck by how good an actor David Duchovny is. He's able to rattle off some rather insane, staccato exposition with with believable conviction and purpose while engaging the audience and carrying us along. He made us want to believe.

I think I love Taskmaster in all it's forms so much is that I haven't felt at home in America in so long and I've found a home for my brain in among the comedians in thr UK and now New Zealand and Australia via Taskmaster.

My nostalgia drug of choice is 80s and 90s Disney Channel commercial packages on YouTube. Those hit hard. It feels like time traveling.
