BTW, shout out to author Lenore Alecto for nagging me to finally try Obsidian. It's a nice and quite useful tool.

Obsidian has a setting "Convert Pasted HTML to Markdown." When ON, text from a browser becomes markdown with distortion & extra lines. When OFF, text from a browser still becomes markdown, but correctly. So...not sure what the setting should be called, but....something else.

Jane Goodall lived a long and fruitful life, contributing much to our science, and often overcoming barriers pointlessly, self-destructively place in her path by our own species' less evolved aspect. Goodbye, Dr. Jane.

No matter what you think of it, this is accurate:

Apropos of nothing, here's a little wisdom from the culture of one of the U.S.'s strongest and closest allies, South Korea:
Joseon was a Neo-Confucian state, and under Confucian political theory:

A loyal subject must remonstrate (간언) when the ruler errs.

If the king ignores gentle advice, the subject must intensify the protest — even at risk to career or life.

Silence in the face of injustice was considered disloyalty.

Thus, far from being rude, dramatic protest was seen as the highest form of loyalty and virtue

There is absolutely nothing wrong with (an unambiguous) terminal preposition, but I felt like being petulant. Good on you for noticing, though. ;-)

Agreed. The Apollo program, in a way, was such a great accomplishment specifically because we had so little to gain from it. But OTOH, it advanced precision manufacturing and semiconductors by easily a decade.

Space exploration already saved us once (by discovering Ozone depletion) and it could save us again in at least two ways that come to mind. But yeah, terraforming Mars is WAY WAY WAY downfield.

Social media companies and credit bureaus should be accountable for all crime and graft they enable. If they can't block it, pay the piper, and still exist, then we don't need them.

We’re going back to the Moon not to plant a flag, but to plant roots. History may remember this decade as that in which we stopped being a single-planet species.

I've never used an ad-blocker because I've no problem letting those whose services I enjoy make a living. But YouTube and FB clotting my feed with shorts engineered to waste time is an insult with which I could not put. These along with the ads, are now blocked by uBlock Origin.

I strongly suspect the causative agent--if any--is the fever the Tylenol was taken to treat. Meaning, Tylenol doesn't CAUSE, but rather mitigates NDDs. That would be consistent with everything known.

I haven't seen an eagle roosting over the bayou since May, but this morning I saw one in flight, and a great blue heron on roosting (which is unusual).

1. A review of studies really did find a correlation between maternal Tylenol use and neurodevelopmental effects.
2. But the effects were poorly quantified.
3. And largely vanished when accounting for confounding factors.
4. And can be explained by maternal FEVER.
5. So stop freaking out.

Anyone who needs to reach me, professionally or socially, knows how. So anyone who texts me, asking if they've reached me by name--is phishing. Go away, little fishy. Go away.
