This has been an ongoing struggle for a decade or more now. Many of my academic friends chose to quit and take up other professions and so far, none of them seem to regret it. This is so bad for the profession.

You are claiming the right of a judge, jury and executioner here. I think Good's shooting was wrong based on what I know so far, but both you and I need to wait until the investigation is over before passing judgement.

Same. The shooter broke a lot of protocols by filming with his cell phone at the same time as he was confronting this woman with his gun drawn. He absolutely should be fired, and probably should spend a long time in jail. He's a future textbook example of what NOT to do.
