Success! CUPE 3912 resolution was passed at CUPE
National Convention with broad support!
This means CUPE has to dedicate resources to lobby all levels of government for increased funding and a national education act and raise public awareness about post
secondary workers and to fight cuts to protect our jobs.
Swipe to read the full text! CUPE WILL

Renew campaigning through lobbying and mobilization of all levels of government for comprehensive, public post-secondary funding. In particular, CUPE will pressure the federal government to legislate a national Post-Secondary Education Act with statutory, accountable federal funding for post-secondary education.
Develop resources for locals and chartered organizations to raise public awareness of the value of CUPE’s Post-Secondary Education Workers, support efforts to fight post-secondary education cuts, and protect these members’ jobs.
BECAUSE
Post-secondary across Canada is in crisis, exacerbated by federal policies impacting international students and by chronic underfunding by both federal and provincial governments;
This crisis has led to ongoing job losses and increased precarity for academic, technical, trades, service and support staff CUPE members;
Stable and fair models of public funding are required to provide the education and research that drives the Canadian economy, supports families, and resources the country’s labour market, which are essential to supporting and retraining workers and communities impacted by the Trade War;
Inadequate public funding of the system results in poor quality education, cuts to the services students need for their success, and higher tuition fees that make education and training harder to access for working class families and young people.

Support is growing. Add your name to the urgent call for the fed gov't to provide direct funding for universities and colleges that are undergoing significant financial hardship; & to protect public sector jobs from layoffs, cutbacks, and program closures.

These actions will gut the Post Office, eliminate good public service jobs and abandon rural, remote and indigenous communities.

At #SMU, 28 PT Faculty members received their contract the day classes started or after. One of them received it today. This means they were not included in the first pay day and some may not even receive their pay next week. 4 weeks into the term. This is wrong.

The "basic stipend" for @cupe3912.bsky.social Part-Time Faculty is $6111/course.

Lectures, course prep, office hours, all of it at $6,111—even though our teaching makes Saint Mary's a top undergrad university in Canada.

SMU wants to increase it by no more than...1%.

Back in July, @cupe3912.bsky.social filed for conciliation. @dalhousieu.bsky.social say they couldn’t meet until October (they were busy preparing to lockout the @dalfaculty.bsky.social)

Will the #Dal BOG offer #CUPE3912 a #FairDeal on Oct 2? Or will they force another job action?

Yes, it was Toronto … but the gap was nearly $2000 a course. Almost 10 years have passed. I have a career stream faculty position thankfully. Because the current stipends per course at Dalhousie are still less in 2025 than I received in 2016 from TMU. 2/2

In the 2015-2016 academic year I taught 10 courses as a CUPE3904 sessional lecturer at TMU (formerly Ryerson). I came to Dalhousie on a 50% FTE limited term appointment and was taken aback at how far behind the local @cupe3912.bsky.social stipends were compared to 3904. 1/2
