Yes that’s so valid. Not just that it is in there but the way it is executed. I think that is a valid reasoning to dislike a movie for sure!

I always think it’s valid to rate a movie based on how it made you feel that time. Just feel it’s bad faith to watch and rate a movie you know you will hate based on its themes. But I can definitely recognize sometimes it’s just not the right day for a movie.

Curious to see how other people feel about this though. Do you believe certain topics should be off limits for horror movies? Or is it all about wether it’s a good movie or not? For me even just “shock value” can be enough and fun at times.

Long story short: Please just don’t watch movies that have themes you know you hate and than rate them as if they did anything wrong by existing. I’m not going to watch Wicked and complain there’s not enough gore….

And than they watch those movies and rate them 1/2 stars because it has SA in it. Not taking into account anything else about the movie. When it is so easy these days to avoid themes that will trigger you or that you just don’t enjoy. And we get reviews like this:

And I really only see this with SA/R triggers. People will watch movies like The Hills Have Eyes and comment on it saying that the SA is unnecessary and shouldn’t be in movies. As if horrifying you is not the whole point of the genre. If you feel SA never has a place in movies, WHY DO YOU WATCH THEM
