When you ask voters to choose between corporate profits and protecting our neighbors – it’s not even close. This year, Seattle voters chose the tax corporations to fund social housing (63%) and to pass the Seattle Shield Initiative to protect our neighbors (71%). Let’s keep it going!

Katie Wilson's lead grows to 1,346 votes over and incumbent corporate-Democrat Bruce Harrell.

Kate Wilson won 61.23% of the 6,121 ballots counted today.

Overall total:

Katie Wilson 50.08% 137,217
Bruce Harrell 49.59% 135,871

I spoke with KCE about this in a prior election. The most common reason this happens (99.99% of cases) is when a voter has written in the name of a candidate already on the ballot.

In the past fifty years of Seattle elections, the 2025 Dream Team are now the top four vote-getters of any general election campaign.

The number of people who voted for that slate is greater than the total population of Skagit County.

The Rinck, Evans, and Foster campaigns are now officially ranked 2nd, 9th, and 13th, respectively, in total votes received in general elections in Seattle going back to 1973. AMR now holds the top two spots. And counting is far from done.

Representative Shaun Scott 43rd Legislative District October 30, 2025 The Honorable Bob Ferguson PO Box 40002 Olympia, WA 98504 Dear Governor Ferguson: As the combined impact of House Resolution 1 and the Trump government shutdown are coming into focus, I am writing on behalf of 43* Legislative District residents to urgently request that you declare a state of emergency. 900,000 Washingtonians stand to lose access to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food stamps because of the government shutdown. The people of our state will not care whether they can't eat because of Republican evil in one Washington or Democrat complicity in the other - they will starve either way. I was pleased to see your office direct $2.2 million in support for food banks this week. However, the termination of food stamp benefits for nearly one million Washingtonians implicates an entire economic ecosystem beyond the point of food consumption. Washington Department of Social and Health Services estimates that for every $1.00 spent on SNAP benefits, $1.50 of economic activity is generated; these benefits are a lifeline for children, seniors, and working people, and also for businesses of all sizes that depend on the commerce of SNAP consumers. If the actual, physical health of everyday Washingtonians is not a good enough reason to fund these benefits, the economic health of the state ought to be. In the 2026 Washington State Legislative Session, we could pursue progressive revenue proposals - taxes on the wealthy and major corporations - which would allow us to assume the cost of administering food stamps; the Budget & Policy Center estimates that assuming control of SNAP would cost Washington $200 million annually, i.e. a paltry .2% of the state's $77.9 billion budget. I also believe I speak for many a Washingtonian in wondering why, in light of the disastrous impacts of both the H.R. 1 Reconciliation Budget and the government shutdown, state lawmakers are not currently in a special session to forge a path forward. As a first step, I would urge you to have Washington join Louisiana, New York, and Virginia in calling a state of emergency to begin the work of stewarding our state through this nascent crisis. We deserve better. Dehumanizing our neighbors by using photos of them on their worst days without their consent is unacceptable. We have a lot of work to do to address homelessness, but this only moves us further from that goal by othering real people in an attempt to score cheap political points.

The County Council just took a unanimous 9-0 vote to establish the Broadway Facility fund, paving the way to opening a Crisis Care Center on Capitol Hill.

The King County Council is hearing public testimony on the Capitol Hill crisis care center right now, ahead of a final council vote approving funds for the facility.

Just like in committee, testimony has been heavily weighted against the center so far.
