From the blurb: "From everyday apps to complex algorithms, Ruha Benjamin cuts through tech-industry hype to understand how emerging technologies can reinforce White supremacy and deepen social inequity."

It was my privilege today to appoint Colleen Melody to the Washington Supreme Court.

When I was Attorney General, I established a Civil Rights Division. Colleen agreed to come and build it from the ground up. Now, by any fair measure, it's the best civil rights division in any AGO in the country.

Any time corporate executives are in a room together and don't know they're being recorded, the transcript is like: "Christ, I hate our customers. We're agreed that we all hate our customers? Let's lie to the IRS, criminally. Did I mention the Holocaust never happened? Put more lead in our soda."

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Moments ago: tenants of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided at the end of September held a presser to announce they're forming a tenants union.

They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.

"In a prison system where more than 75 percent of employees are white and 73 percent of prisoners are Black or Hispanic, many of the incidents had racist overtones, inmates said, with white guards using racial epithets and other demeaning language during attacks"
A @nytimes.com investigation has found that state prison guards have been credibly accused of engaging in such behavior — putting inmates in restraints and then assaulting them — far more often than was previously known.

— Stuffing should not actually be stuffed inside the bird for several reasons but mostly: Ew

Synthetic voters/audiences are increasingly being used by political campaigns. They’re being sold as a more affordable alternative to real focus groups and polls.

This is a horrible idea for many reasons, including that the results are weird and bad.
