til i live next to a distribution hub supplying 90% of Oregon’s liquid fuel supply!

Verde PDX says the city's safety updates for this 6 mile stretch are not good enough and more public comments are needed by oct 17

here's Verde's action alert in english & spanish:

What is the CEI Hub & the Policy Project?

The Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub is a six-mile stretch of industrial land in northwest Portland along the Willamette River. It serves as a hub for the storage and

distribution of liquid fuels that provide 90% of Oregon’s liquid fuel supply.

Portland is updating the rules for the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub — and right now, the city needs to hear from you.

Everything is stupid and dangerous right now, but in Portland, we have an opportunity to make something a little less stupid and a lot less dangerous!

Tell PDX planners to stop adding fuel storage at the CEI Hub and to plan a drawdown of existing fuel storage! 👇

Everything is stupid and dangerous right now, *but* we have an opportunity to make a least one thing less stupid and dangerous.

Please submit a comment to the PDX city planners asking them to prevent any further expansion of liquid fuel storage at the CEI Hub and mandate a fuel drawdown.

@jeremiahhayden.bsky.social does it again with incredibly thorough investigative reporting on the latest with Zenith.

In sum, there are serious concerns about the quality of investigations into Zenith that city council called for.

It’s worth sitting down and attentively reading the whole thing.
City of Portland hires independent law firm for Zenith investigation
The city’s internal investigation of its contract with the fossil fuel company faced bias claims and missed multiple deadlines. City councilors pressured the mayor to hire outside help.

Jesus.

Together, Shannon Singleton, Meghan Moyer, and Julia Brim Edwards are proposing cuts that would effectively end the work of the cherished and wildly effective team at the MultCo Office of Sustainability.

It's a gift to Zenith, NW Natural, & other big polluters.

Last Friday, our members voted unanimously to leave the NW Oregon Labor Council if the Portland Police Association is affirmed as an affiliate by delegates.

We will not pay dues to an organization that fights against police accountability measures and supports efforts to intimidate city councilors.

For those who don't know, there is a battle over whether or not the Portland Police Association (PPA) will be allowed to join the Northwest Oregon Labor Council, the large regional labor coalition. They were invited summarily by a leader and are being supported by unions who pay for votes. 🧵
