I just think it's narrow-minded that all these posts ignore this glaring reality - they can still like avatar in spite of it - instead implying that avatar's critics are all posers or something.

my point is that language like "performative" and "pretending" is a disingenuous way to address all criticism of a billion-dollar white-led film, when much of that criticism regards its fantasy mythologizing of indingeous people and their suffering into a guiltless form palatable to median US voters
