I did not realize "the working people" means a police deparement that was exposed as regularly spending beyond this budget and has been responsible for TWO massive wrongful conviction payouts that equal 2 to 3 years of the Library budget.

When prisoners strike, who breaks them? Your union corrections officers? And how about the corrections officers involved in suppressing the protesters outside the ICE detention center in Broadview? I'm so tired of compromising and half measures when trying to build our power as workers.

like,,,yeah there's no perfect business union (the fact that they are businesses is in its own right imperfect) but we can do better than co-signing people that make money off of incarceration and torture. Cops of all kinds out of labor!!

IMO, there are significant parallels between local encampment evictions & national deportations. among them who gets called a threat to public safety, who people with power think "deserve" to live on land. Who gets to be a member of the public?
