When I decided to do this scene for the cover to Joan Vinge's evocative follow-up to CATSPAW, I had to figure out a way to depict a falling iridescent rain of sentient psychic energy.

There's no class for that in art school! 2/3

His other arm falls at his side as he focused on a face forming in the downward cascade. He wears a flight suit that appears as much technology as clothing. CENTER: A man in a mech suit with no helmet is capture mid stride with his leg on a diagonal to accentuate the action. His eyes are focused up and to the right as if fixed on something. RIGHT: A figure kneels with legs spread and arms crossed with one hand upraised. The figure is loosely rendered with no detail in the face. Behind him is the wreck of a spaceship with twin fins on the tail. The bow of the ship is insectile in form with a wide viewport divided roughly in hexagonal shapes. The shower of energy is wispy, barely rendered in vertical impression. Color study for DREAMFALL rendered roughly in darker tones of blue. The figure is flopped, facing left instead of right.
