Paris, France. Ecosocialist and proud Aspie. Environment, humanism, economics, society and hope when I can muster it.
At this point I'd argue that being willing to pay $1m to move to the US is rather a sign of lack of intelligence...

Why would you choose a super wealthy man with no recognisable knowledge in the field as your source of enlightenment?

Predictably, her main take was to question whether scientists' assessments were taking into account all the new technologies that would reduce emissions and even make them negative.

I've noticed that people who use the inevitability argument always make comparisons to email and social media, never to NFTs or DDT.

I think the so-called "AI" stuff is going to be the tech version of asbestos: shoved in everywhere, expensive and time-consuming to remove.

It's not for births.
But women are more likely to move to cities because they have always been more likely to work in city jobs.
Men tend to hold the manufacturing and farming jobs that remain in declining communities.

It's just a fact, cities have more women.

That seems sarcastic, but you show a picture that looks likely to have been taken in NYC.
The issue is more with post-industrial communities. Or farming towns.

And people do stay home more than they used to (home delivery, Netflix...) making contacts rarer.

No doubt there is some of that, but also sparsely populated areas tend to have many more men than women.

Also, loneliness does not mean not finding a life partner. It mostly means struggling to find friends. And the evolution of society does seem to have made it more difficult.

Yes, I distinctly recall my parents regularly having guests at home, with a frequency that I hardly see among the people I know.
Very happy with my family, but I feel it's important to see other people, hear different perspectives...

To be fair, I have met widowers (and even a divorcee of 6 months!) who still wore their wedding rings.

Because of 2, the Administration has likely committed murder, not war crimes.

Let's not sanitise this by calling it war crime when there isn't a war.

And while doubts about Venezuelan elections are understandable, it should be remembered that the UN evaluated them as being freer and fairer than US ones...

I have a problem with that statement: "The administration blames Maduro, who refused to step down after losing last year’s presidential election"

You can argue that the election was problematic, or even reckon it was rigged, but Maduro won it.

So, being generous and assuming that plural just meant two, that's at least close to two thirds of the total US population (kids included).

Sounds plausible...
