It's okay, little rose. It's November but you're still very welcome! 🌱

A woman (50s?) is waiting in line at a parking meter.
She says to a friend: "I've got to get home today and give my tomato plants a performance review. The little buggers have NOT met any key performance indicators and I'm NOT happy."
Her friend guffaws with laughter. (3)

This blog post isn't about software testing, but about surviving in this demanding world. It's a long post, but definitely worth reading if you also feel like there are never enough hours in a day.

Found this sign in a picture in an article from the Guardian.

I could tell right away that it was some sort of German. I can understand most of it, but it also looks very foreign to me. I grew up hearing and reading some low German, but not this dialect that probably evolved in Canada.

Managed to drop my alarm clock to the floor with the battery cover ending up under the bed. Had to crawl there to get the cover as the clock wouldn't shut up otherwise.

Changed into my sports clothes and managed to bump my elbow into the wall in the process. Hard.

Can we start over, please?

This Japanese Maple was planted by the gardeners this spring. 🌱

Picture from Wednesday when we had sunshine.

I'm not a huge fan of Hydrangeas as they don't offer much for wildlife in our area, but this one was already there and I have to admit it's rather pretty, even this late in the year. 🌱

Not sure why these are called "blue pillow" (Blaukissen) in German. 🤷‍♀️ 🌱

Apparently, there are a few varieties that are actually blue, but mostly this doesn't seem to be the case.

Didn't expect them to flower this year, let alone in November. I grew them from seed this spring.

TFW that customer meeting at 6:30 pm on Friday could've been an e-mail.

Love the color! It's a young tree, I'm very glad that I planted it. 🌱

Met this beauty after my run this morning ☺️🪶

This is why I buy as few clothes as I can get away with, wear them as long as possible, and eventually throw them away as dirty rags even though we're supposed to collect them for recycling. Better burn them in Germany with air filters and energy recovery than this. 😞 #recycling

Yep. Exhaustion kicked in surprisingly late (about 6 hours after the run), but my body did not like today's experiment one bit. 😅

Will rest and do a few more easy runs before attempting any more faster or long runs. (I'm too lazy to post the ready runs.)

I'll probably pay for this, but I raced today's 5k that were supposed to be "comfortably hard" as I had started out too fast (the weather was miserable - 5°C / 41 °F, 🌧️, and very windy) and then thought "why not?".

Now I at least have a baseline to work with. 😂

38:13 minutes @ 171 BPM 🙈

Ran 8k / almost 5 miles today, which is my longest run ever. I even managed to run slightly faster than my walking speed, haha.

Everything up until and including 7k (a week ago) felt easy. 8k was a bit different. Maybe I need to wait a bit before I attempt a longer run. 🤔

Looked at training plans today. For the same goal (5k in under 30 minutes), the English Runner's World wants me to run 4 times a week, but the German edition only has 3 runs per week. Both plans span 8 weeks and if anything, the German plan asks for a lower fitness level to begin with. 🤷‍♀️

Love the reaction of the employee 😂
A man (70s?) is studying a Christmas lights display in a hardware store.
He mumbles.
He grumbles.
He scowls.
He turns to an employee (50s?) and says: "WHY NOW?!"
Employee bows and says: "For your personal entertainment mate. It did the job for at least five minutes there. You're welcome." (2)

My parents have a young ginkgo tree planted this spring that now has holes in the bark. I'm suspecting woodpeckers.

Or is this something more sinister? 🌱

Uh, thanks. I'll stick with my current English teacher who doesn't use torture as a teaching method. 🤣
