Thank you Wesleyan latin and ballroom association for hosting a salsa / bachata / merengue social on campus. I really needed that after an insane week of work.

Also, not sure about the fresh tomato comment below, but in Italy Margherita definitively does not feature fresh tomatoes. But it often has some fresh basil leaves.

The end! Not sure what you call Margherita in NJ 😅
czamboni.bsky.social
The main difference between the two is that Margherita has mozzarella, Marinara does not.
Also, there is a lovely reason about how Margherita pizza got its name: from a queen!

As an Italian born and raised in Italy, I will refrain from adding to this conversation, because what we call a Margherita in Italy might be very different from what you do in the US.

But Margherita in Italy is just about the most basic type of pizza you can get, along with Marinara. 1/2

Also @helloalexroberts.bsky.social I have seen beautiful hacks of FTQ in the past few years (indeed, it is such a hackable game) and even translated one into Italian (the original game in English is by @magicalgurll.com )

Thank you so so much! I will explore all of these. 🙏🏻

Very excited! 😀

This is an official request to all you talented people to make more games that fit in 60-90 minutes! 🙏🏻

People appreciate the new art a lot, and I quickly go over differences. This year we will also include a couple of other games, In This World and Aldsworth 1811 by @tenpenjenn.com - so we might not play the old edition. :)
czamboni.bsky.social
Fun fact: we use both the old edition, which I bought a long time ago, and the new, gorgeous edition

If you enjoyed a game on Itch, leave a comment!

Honestly, it really brightens a creator's day. And it's a big encouragement for others who may be interested in getting that game.

Itch hides reviews from the game page, so I find comments more useful in the long run.

Like a game? Comment away!

Well, I use For The Queen every Fall in my Educational Gaming Lab! Groups of students enjoy your game every year - and I will make sure to share pictures after we play on Wednesday! :)

Saturday morning with a student in which we played "In This World" by @lamemage.com and discussed a bunch of other RPGs.

If only every meeting could be like this. ❤️✍🏻

Link to the game (an excellent choice to play in class - easy to explain and modular/quick to play): www.lamemage.com/inthisworld/
czamboni.bsky.social
Final thoughts: absolutely recommended game, it plays up to 7 (with special rules for groups of 2-3) and it's really easy to explain and set up.

If you try it, let me know what you think!
czamboni.bsky.social
If you like Codenames or Rosetta but have always wanted something more, this is also the game for you!

Finally, this is a very hackable game for languages with logographic writing systems, like Chinese, Japanese, and so on.
czamboni.bsky.social
The game is turn-based, but each turn offers new public information that each player will need, so it keeps everybody focused pretty well.

If you like deduction, word-association, puzzle-solving, and deciphering languages, this is the game for you!
czamboni.bsky.social
I also enjoyed the emphasis on word association and deduction: aliens are looking to find items by communicating in their language, while earthlings try to understand said language as much as possible.
czamboni.bsky.social
First, I loved that players are divided into two teams, earthlings and aliens, but the game is competitive within the team and collaborative across teams.
czamboni.bsky.social
I recently tried "First Contact" by Cosmo Drone Games. It's a fantastic language-based boardgame!

It has elements of Codenames and Rosetta, used in a clever and compelling way.

Link here, and keep reading below for some thoughts on the game.

A new folk fantasy read and some lovely hikes as September turns into October.

Books, games, and nature to preserve some joy and peace in dark times.

We started volunteering with some local organizations and boy, it is dark out there. So find your beacons of light.
