The problem in Iran and the US is the same . There is always a significant minority in any society who if given a uniform and free license by the government, will happily maim, kill and rape their fellow citizens. The function of proper governance is to ensure they never get that opportunity.

Can anyone tell me what distinguishes the actions of the Iranian regime from those of the US regime . Ie if the protests in the US reach the scale of those in IRAN does anyone doubt that Trump will order ICE to shoot at will.

I see that Albanese “sends his thoughts “ to those who have listened to their homes and livelihoods in Victorias’ fires. Be better if his government was more proactive on climate change. Although frankly that ship has largely sailed , the rear guard action is keeping some of Australia habitable.

Truth is Australia is a relic of Empire. Only belatedly have we begun to try to find a place in SE Asia rather than 100% looking to the Anglosphere, and AUKUS is a huge step backwards. As global power shifts our options are becoming increasingly limited.

With regards to “prior rights to Greenland” by 1100 Viking Greenland was a thriving Danish colony , one of the main settlements , Gardar has its own cathedral and a bishop. It was gradually undone by over exploitation of the environment by European farming practices and the medieval cold spell.

So why transgender health care is under increasing attack, gender assignment surgery on infants born intersex, even when there is no medical problem, goes on as it has for decades with no protest or commentary. None of this is remotely rational .

What does the ordinary Aussie Jew feel about solutions that select them as a minority for hyper protection eg 10 years jail for any statement perceived as anti semitic . Will shining a spotlight on them as special increase the sympathy following the appalling attack at Bondi?

Just realised , should have done a while ago. Trump doesn’t understand insurance. If 10000 people each pay 5000 in insurance premiums,most will never spend what they pay in premiums, but some will spend much more … pooled risk. Give cash, no one can spend more than the cash they are given.
