The sourcing of the military from Fort Bragg is no coincidence. Guess it’s payback time for the confederacy. Btw be interesting to know what % of ICE recruits are from the old confederate states.

The short answer is that when when whites ( ie Europeans) have “taken over” a territory the treatment of the occupants they found there has usually been murderous. So they fear that if they lose control they will suffer the fate they have visited on others.
