The Department of Defense staffers and other sources are also convinced that certain aspects of the accelerating Pentagon leak hunt can be gamed and sabotaged by the leakers themselves. For one thing, multiple sources tell Zeteo that they’ve already practiced how to beat polygraph exams.

We started reporting this trying to get a follow on the revelation last week that Trump / Hegseth were waging a new escalated war on leakers and whistleblowers, expecting some of the similar doom and gloom we get often— instead we got a bunch of government personnel laughing at fascists bumbling.

Two years ago, the world witnessed horrific terrorist attacks on October 7th. Today, the First Lady and I light Government House yellow to remember all the innocent lives lost, to stand with the families still grieving, and to honor the strength of those who continue to carry unimaginable pain.

The fact that the agents were laughing while they did it says to me that they have way way overreached with their mass recruitment and incitement of ICE agents here.

They have not remotely done the propagandic footwork needed to make shooting a collared Christian cleric palatable to the public.

I'm not even trying to make light, this is horrific.

It's just... If you're shooting at Presbyterian USA ministers only 9 months into your modern presidency, something has gone sideways

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

On this day in 1991, Chicago's Harold Washington Library Center opened to the public!

This clip was shot about a week later as 16mm B-roll for "Skyline: Chicago," a series on the city's history and urban design that aired on @wttw.bsky.social It's part of CFA's Judith Paine McBrien Collection.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

We should really spend more time on teaching the English Civil Wars as they relate to the American Revolution.

It is not a happy little accident that we have arrived at this place. We need to fund public television.
