The most memorable project from that class was when he had us recreate one of our favorite paintings as a study, then out of nowhere made us paint an ugly still-life over it to teach us how to not be afraid to wreck something we liked. My mom still has mine hanging up at home. 😅

17 years ago today, my college painting instructor told me I was one of the best technical painters in the program, but had absolutely no concept and would amount to nothing unless I joined underground avant garde movements. 😎

Brand new computer just had a BSOD (third one I’ve noticed, they’ve been super random and Evenr Viewer has told me nothing useful), but now won’t boot at all. Right as I was preparing to deliver files to print to my boss. This is beyond my capabilities of troubleshooting.

I also have to note I ordered a new walking foot for my sewing machine back in April and since I haven’t sewn since then, I only opened it now, and it’s not the right kind of foot for my machine. ☠️ Too late to return it.

I finally started the Halloween costume for my 4 year old, and while I was struggling over top-stitching spandex to make pockets on the shorts, I was like, "...why am I doing pockets? He doesn't need pockets, he never keeps anything in his pockets." So I re-cut and am much happier.

I thought my new computer was having random restart issues, but I'm pretty sure it's because my baby discovered the restart button, which doesn't lock, unlike the power button. 🙃

Ed has been hamming it up saying “Yeah Gandalf is DEAD…he’s NEVER coming back…it’s VERY SAD. 😈” We just started The Two Towers.

He’s watching the opening of the Two Towers right now, so it shows Gandalf falling while fighting the balrog and he’s screaming “GANDALF IS NOT DYING!” But then Frodo wakes up and I’m not sure if he understands it’s portrayed as a dream sequence. 😅

I would like to announce that my husband decided to show The Fellowship of the Ring to our four year old, who cried when Gandalf died, and now keeps repeating “Gandalf is dead forever…I miss Gandalf…”

My eldest was the best sleeper, started sleeping through the night at two months. This one is the complete opposite 😅 I haven’t slept more than four hours uninterrupted in over a year and a half at this point!

How does my one year old go to bed at 10pm, wake up at 6:30am (after waking up 2-3x a night) and take only one one-hour nap during the day after we had him get tons of exercise this morning? 😭

7 more months till my youngest starts daycare and I can be a regularly productive member of society again 🫠 between debilitating pregnancies and babies it’s been almost five years 😆

Or when I'm driving home after dropping off the eldest at school, took baby walking & grocery shopping, and then he starts to fall asleep 5 minutes before we get home, but if I let him sleep in the car he won't nap at home so I can do the dishes in peace, so I have to keep him awake while driving.

One thing about kids that you don't really understand until you experience it, is how everday little things have a permanent difficulty multiplier. Like how I can't open the dishwasher while the baby is awake or else he will try to pull things out/crawl into it, and if I close it, screaming. 🙃

And yes, I’m drawing on paper with pencil because when I first started practicing on iPad, I ended up relying way too much on resizing/rotating features and liquify to push things around, which made me realize how deteriorated my foundation hand-eye coordination drawing skills are. ☠️

I’ve been doing sketches as my baby allows me to for about a month, and I see improvement, but it’s still such a bottom-tier level of work that I think I need to fill this whole cheap sketchbook and then some with practice.

I started my art journey learning to draw anime characters from internet tutorials in 1999, and now I’m trying to relearn how to draw characters because I’m obsessed with LADS and it’s SO HARD. How am I an illustrative graphic artist when I can’t draw hot anime-esque men? 😅
