i think this is what drives me nuts. people talk about how, say, the UN was founded by "starry eyed idealists" who didn't understand "reality." the truth is that the UN was founded by those who had just fought and *won* the bloodiest war in human history.

Its not the architecture that makes Dubai ugly. It is a morally ugly place. This idea that you can create a space where there is no social responsibility. A playground for psychopaths who have delusions of being at the top of some imagined social-Darwinian food chain. It's repugnant.
