I don't claim to fully understand how the financial system and all its intricacies work, but my impression is that the global economy is one giant pyramid scheme that constantly borrows money from the next generation.

Why spend money on journal fees?

If i want to advertise my research results, I can just report them to old people in my hometown and ask them to keep it a secret. 🤫

I usually ask explicitly to chatGPT to give me an answer based on solid scientific literature with preference for well known journals. So far i never got an answer that seemed suspicious. I'm quite happy with the quality of the results.
