Mostly it's about the horses. When it's not about #UglyDogs

It's a bit different with them because testosterone and you better be fair. You pick a fight, you won't win.

Prize is a rescue. Knows his own strength. But he has a solid mind and a naturally good disposition. He has taught me So Much about soft, quiet, subtle, Less Is More.

That's awesome. I like stallions. The rank ones need to have their attitude adjusted the hard way (SNIP!), but a well-brought-up one is a joy.

beautifully, but he's been working with another farrier who got him all upshook about ZOMGSTALLIONZOMG. Prize was standing there with rope loose over the rail like, hello, you know me, stop that.

IME, rank stallions are made, not born.

Was commenting to a friend elsewhere what SRS rider told me when my then stallion was being a shit: "He's just a horse. Don't get all upset because he's A STALLION." Had to tell my very good but young farrier that just this weekend. He and Prize get along

Children's size?

Oh, but women aren't people. You know this.

My mom's retirement community declares that "70 is the new 40." Which for her Greatest Generation demographic is pretty true.

Yup. In this case, empathy (and its sister compassion) is an uncomfortable thing to have. I mean please god get him out of our misery soonest, but soulless or not, he still inhabits a human flesh suit and this is bad.

It's a cat lure!
December 6, 2025 at 6:32 PM
I can't even get my three cats into the same picture unless they're comatose. I am in awe.

Happy Howlidays to you, master photographer!

Mine could go zoom, never went boom. It burned oil in its later years, but it served me pretty well.
December 4, 2025 at 3:12 PM
That's terrifying.

Disclosure: My first car was a Pinto. Lasted for years. Never blew up.
December 4, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Can the Ford Pinto be far behind?
December 4, 2025 at 2:52 PM
Damn he wants that Nobel Prize.
December 4, 2025 at 12:33 AM
Is one reason why I have horses. They keep me from locking up like the Tin Man in a rainstorm.
December 4, 2025 at 12:29 AM
I am literally crashing with chronic fatigue syndrome, without any reason except that. If I didn't have to care for animals, I wouldn't even get out of bed.

It's like we've all had our brains drained out our ears by (waves hands wildly) all this.
