Weak leaders only value sycophants. Powell's problem is that he actually f'd things up really bad, creating a pandemic "boom" bubble, shoving the economy over the threshold from late-stage to end-stage capitalism. The public will not shed a tear, but what comes next will be total destruction.

We've done this close to home many times (Countless banana-republic coups "Banana Wars" as early as 1898, Iran-Contra). And yes we pay the consequences. One of the consequences was having a world super power (Russia) set up shop on a little island off our shore (Cuba) to point missiles at us.

Like Iran-Contra? That's what I've been thinking. Similar to what we did in Iraq/Afghanistan but really, it's going to be mostly similar to what we've tried and failed at in South America before. It's a mode of fighting that we can't win with boots on the ground.

Fucking idiots. They skipped all of the initial steps to regime change. They have a puppet that they admitted will be unsuccessful. Now they think they can win at guerilla warfare in a mountainous region against millions who want the U.S. out? This doesn't sound familiar to anyone?
