I wrote a good book on economics and history, "The Tale of Capitalism", available on Amazon.com.
It's my understanding that Mitch McConnell could have scheduled the Senate trial & held it, but he slow walked it & said Mr. Trump would leave office in a few days in any case, so trying him would serve no purpose. There was some discussion if impeachment applies to former presidents.

Regrettably, it’s too late to hold Sen. McConnell accountable — nor would being shamed mean anything to him.

Let us remember that in a democracy all people have human rights, including the rights to due process & to protection from ethnic discrimination.

I think the employers who dismiss the workers enjoy a bit of freedom from responsibility for reintegrating the workers into the workforce, hence the employers skimp on training, since the government & the workers share that responsibility, or something like that.

I'm glad jobs will go to machines. It's disgusting that school is still built to teach children to desire jobs. Now as you mentioned we just need UBI. And we can build that. So help. Please.

having been convicted of having sex for money with a 17 year old wouldn't absolve him of allegations of having sex with girls of younger ages, nor would it absolve him of allegations of rape of women of age, nor of related allegations like extortion or stabling some of these girls on an island.

Quite so. Smith & Ricardo wrote of the workers' misery even unto starvation & death when employers dismissed them. Engel & Marx wrote of the "unemployed reserve" pool of labor. Veblen wrote of the "underfed class". Our economic system produces these people. And now, jobs will go to machines. #UBI
