metaPR2 version 3.0 has just been released.

Here are the major changes:
- Metabarcodes (ASVs) are now annotated with the latest version of the PR2 reference sequence database (5.1.0).
- 8 new published datasets have been added from the Arctic and from the South West Pacific.

I would never believe this would happen in a Canadian university☹️

Such statements undermine funding efforts for large scale oceanographic projects. I am sure Trump would lovet it...

The following statement is utterly misleading "The cost of this venture pales in comparison to running a scientific research vessel, while yielding far more information..." A bunch of random measurements will never replace a carefully planned cruise with a very large number of metadata.

It was so nice and so fulfilling to interact with you both...

What’s thriving under Arctic sea ice? We tracked photosynthetic protists during the Arctic UIB,revealing a shift from polar to polar-temperate taxa & spotlighting overlooked groups!Great team & Dr. Sim effort! @biovitenskap.bsky.social @roscoff-collection.bsky.social academic.oup.com/ismecommun/a...

ASM is so US centered... mostly American authors, a few European and no one else from South America, Africa or Asia... a real shame.

Despite 150+ years of Radiolaria diversity research, we have just scratched the surface. Nearly half of Radiolaria diversity might be naked hiding in plain sight! We unveiled the diversity and evolution of Radiolaria beyond "the stars of the ocean"

Prochlorococcus is also very difficult to grow and still it has been very early on deposited to culture collections.
daniel-vaulot.bsky.social
And still, most of the isolated strains have never made it to public culture collections. A blatant example of unFAIR science...
