... and sent it to their lab to try and match the flavour profile. A'Bunadh means 'the original' in Gaelic!

It's delightful. An earlier batch was the first present I gave my husband, and I'm fairly certain that's when he decided our partnership was going to work 😅

Here water is a great idea, it can definitely take it at 61%. Even a little bit (I did 4 small drops) takes the sting out and opens it up.

If you go on a distillery tour they tell you the story that when they were putting in stills they unearthed an ancient bottle from 1898...

Nose: dark chocolate, fruity, hint of ginger. Careful when nosing, the alcohol content is high (61.2%!) so a careless whiff is dangerous

Palate: prunes, xmas cake, toffee. Even more toffee and oak with water.

Finish: dry, leathery, but sweet and spicy. Warming like a hug.

Palate: sharp, expected at 57.1%, but once you’re over the hit it’s complex and spicy (in the baking spices sense, very xmas-y!)

Finish: creamy but short, lingering spice from the palate that just slowly backs away. Overripe banana bread, but otherwise not much new relative to the palate.
