His zone entries are down you with similar amount of chances, as are a lot of Michkov's microstats. It could be his conditioning still but I'm skeptical. Ultimately if it doesn't matter because of F1-3 assignments in the zone, why not play him on the side he's been playing at forever?

I wonder if it's injury related, or if there's something they're having him do that's different. He came into the year so hot I was hoping he would use that momentum and build off of it. Can still very much turn it around! At one point his EH GAR was around the 80%ile, now...

I do not think this game was Sam's fault, but he also did not help. Bummer man. His rough season continues.

Flyers after the recent skid not looking as hot, obviously. Same story as most of the season: offense not generating enough pressure, outright bad special teams, without Vladar goaltending is diminished, and things start to tumble. Finishing has remained decent, and xGA looking good!

And even if you struggle at at 23 and 24, some guys do bounce back and have a good year. Ersson straight up just has not yet, and with the group that he's currently mimicking its becoming more and more unlikely that he ever does.

I don't think it's an age factor. A lot of goalies had decent loads in their age 23 and 24 seasons and still performed well by 25. In fact, 53% of them were above 0 in GSAx.

Checking back in on this. Ersson has more in common with Mrazek, Subban, and Lindback so far than the hopeful cases of guys like Kuemper and Blackwood. Not a good group to be compared to.

I've been practicing learning pandas/numpy/matplotlib in prep to potentially go back to school for data science. Just been doing random projects and I thought I'd compare GAR vs. Net Rating (also did GameScore and GAR vs xGAR). I'm not 100% I did this right but I was surprised how close they were.

5v5 xG results from last night's Flyers vs Maple Leafs game. While he didn't blow the door down with his xG, I thought Barkey had another strong game.

Compare to Bedard's "bad" year last year and his "good" year this year. Even last year he was still mostly providing offense and getting into the zone with ease. Michkov isn't doing that. Thats a tad concerning to me, but a lot of year left still.

There's a bfewunch of mico-stat areas that do worry me. His offense is noticeably less active this year. Last year he looked closer to "guy on path to being one of the NHLs best scorers." Him now stinking at zone entries is an area I think is tied to both his scoring/on-ice fitness woes.
