Sincerely, to any publisher out there, if you're more than happy to shove AI shite into a game just because, I'm not going to engage with your work anymore.

I play games for human creative expression, and generative AI is decidedly and uncontrovertibly far from 'human creative expression'.

I haven't watched the previews (for a game like Metroid, the less I know going in, the more interesting it is for me) but I honestly feel like the companion guy is not really any different conceptually from Corruption where others were talking to you *very* regularly. Silence is rare in that game.

Even if it's not a perfect solution — since as you say, some individuals on those blocklists are there either erroneously or despite the offending content being only a small part of what they post — it's still a valid solution if it allows people to curate their social media experience as they want.

It makes it so that people who do not want to interact with certain entire topics or groups of people, simply don't have to. You could argue that was already doable without the blocklists, but a blocklist removes any temptation in engaging with some people acting in bad faith.
