When did playground insults take over from political analysis/debate - or even just normal styles of conversation?

Yup. Are they deliberately obtuse? Minor re-framing: would you like to live no more that 15 mins walk from a wide range of amenities, not have so far to carry shopping home from, a lively high street within easy reach ... I guess if that' s Stalinism, more people might sign up!
